Brilliant lavender blooms that are accented with darker purple freckles and stand out against its evergreen foliage. This is an Encore Azalea and so more sun tolerant than other azaleas. Bred for its cold hardiness and rounded growth habit. Beautiful in a pot, mass planted or as a border.

The heady perfume of this deliciously fragrant evergreen shrub makes it a winner for planting near a window or doorway. Bright glossy dark green leaves, pure white double rosettes of fragrance in early summer. Plant in a warm, frost free position. Feed regularly for best results.

Gardenias will grow happily in a pot as long as they are fed and watered regularly. They are gross feeders and respond well to regular liquid feeding. They can take a little sun but in NZ they are best protected from the hot afternoon sun.

Bushy evergreen shrub with tiny oval deep green leaves. Small creamy white fragrant flowers in summer. Often used as a faster growing Box substitute. Ideal for topiary work and very effective for hedging. Fast growing and hardy.

If you want to quickly establish a nice compact low hedge then this is the plant for you. Lonicera needs a little more clipping than Box but it is very easy to maintain. When used for hedging or topiary then the flowers and fruit will be non existent.

This delightful evergreen shrub with aromatic foliage and highly perfumed flowers is a close cousin of Citrus. The summer flowers are white and are followed by lovely red berries. The foliage is a rich green. Likes a sunny spot with humus rich soil and protection from frost. Evergreen

Murraya responds very well to clipping (after flowering) and can be used as a low hedge or for topiary - as you would use Box. An extremely popular landscaping plant for frost free areas and it really does smell simply wonderful.

A striking shrub with its dark green foliage and masses of white, very fragrant flowers along slender branches these are very showy. Easy to grow in morning sun or dappled light, prefers acid soil if possible. Responds well to clipping which should be done after flowering.

This is one for the birds as they just love the bright red berries that follow the masses of white flowers at the end of summer. Compact in habit with glossy green leaves and few thorns. Grows just about anywhere and in any soil but prefers a sunny spot that isn't too wet. Evergreen.

Pyracantha are suitable for training as espaliers and look particularly good against a sunny wall where you can observe the birds par-taking of a 'berry' nice breakfast.

Very compact shrub, bright pink flowers, paling with age, with dominant flare. Trusses are very round and compact and are held well to give a good display. The plant is hardy and has a good dense habit. Can suffer frost damage to the buds in very cold areas. Flowers Spring.

For harmony in the garden it is usually recommended that one male Viburnum davidii be planted for every 3 females - not something we suggest you try at home folks.
