Our only Native Euphorbia, found mainly in coastal areas of New Zealand. Red stems and blue grey foliage topped off with grey terminal flower heads with maroon bracts. Flowers from spring through to summer. Prefers a sunny spot, tolerant of coastal conditions. Perennial.

The Maori name for this plant is Wainatua which means 'milk of the demons' referring to the milky sap of the stems. It is best to take care that this sap does not make contact with your skin - if it does wash off ASAP.
