Native. The gorgeous, large glossy leaves of this evergreen shrub are ideal for adding a lush tropical look to the garden. Undemanding and tolerant of wind, and coastal conditions but not harsh frost. Will grow quite large if left to its own devices but trims well. Can be used for hedging.
The common name of this shrub is Puka or Akapuka not to be confused with Meryta which is also a native commonly called Puka. See that's why we use those hard to say Latin names.
