An unusual rose with dark brown branches and thorns and dark green fern like foliage. Single canary yellow blooms with prominent stamens appear mainly in spring. Nice fragrance. Can be used as a large shrub or small climber. Quite hardy with good disease resistance. 1908.

Species. Discovered in Western China in 1890 this special rose has simple yet beautiful red blooms with dark stamens. The foliage is a dark blue-green set on open thorny stems. Flowers in the summer only but rewards you thereafter with an abundant crop of orange-red elongated hips. Deciduous.

Rosa moyesii will tolerate quite poor soils. This rose should only be pruned very lightly immediately after flowering.

Species. A natural seedling of Rosa moyesii but with a more compact habit. Still a tall and vigorous rose all the same. The exquisite, single flowers are crimson red with golden stamens and are followed by highly decorative orange hips. Prune with a light hand after the summer flowering. 1938.
