Japanese Maple. This is a beautiful Maple that is definitely a favourite of mine. The dainty, new spring leaves emerge pale yellow with hints of orange and red before slowly turning green over summer. In autumn the yellow and orange tones are once again to the fore prior to leaf fall. Deciduous.

Acer 'Katsura' will do best in a sheltered position with protection from harsh wind and hot afternoon sun.

A very colourful Maple with new spring leaves of bright butter-yellow. These turn an attractive lime-green shade during summer. A particularly striking small tree adding a nice foliage variation. First discovered in an Ashburton garden. Deciduous.

One can only assume that this Maple was so named because of the strong vigorous growth. Personally I think it should be called simply gorgeous! The long dissected crimson leaves sensuously droop on red stemmed branches. Definitely a must have. Deciduous.

Japanese Maple. What a special little tree this is with an outstanding structure and interesting over-lapping foliage. The new leaves emerge a light green maturing to fresh bright green. A lovely Maple for smaller gardens or a container. Plant in a sheltered spot. Deciduous.

This variety was the Maple Society of North America's Maple of the Year in 2015.

The deeply divided foliage of this special Maple goes through several colour changes throughout the season. Starting with orange tones in spring, turning purple then green-bronze and finally bright orange and scarlet in the autumn. The branches are quite pendulous in habit. Deciduous.

Maples are happiest in a sheltered position with protection from the harsh afternoon sun. They like deep cool soil and will happily grow in the garden or a container. Nothing beats them for spring beauty and autumn colour.
