Ginkgo – this is one of the world’s oldest living tree species having been around 350 million years ago! This ancient tree is also known as the Chinese Maidenhair Tree, as the leaves are similar in shape to the maidenhair fern. As well as being a source of food – the fruit yields a nut meat that’s edible in small quantities - parts of the plant are used in traditional Chinese medicines.
An attractive, hardy specimen tree.
