aka Water plant Umbrella grass

Aquatic. An ornamental cyperus plant with long umbrella-like fronds. Grows in sun to part shade. Prefers moist soil or water up to 15cm. Due to its height it is best suited in a sheltered position. Great for water gardens, ponds or pots.

A New Zealand native. Semi-aquatic plant with reddish brown stems and bright green leaves. White small trumpet-like flowers. The plants can grow in water submerged up to 1m or as a margin plant. Prefers semi-shaded area. Tolerates cool temperatures if sheltered. Perennial.

aka Blue Hygrophila

Beautiful marginal plant that will grow easily in wet areas or submerged up to 60 cm deep. Bushy look with rich green leaves and small white flowers. It can grows up to 90 cm tall. Perennial.

Aquatic. A hardy Iris with white flowers and purple mottling on drooping enlongated petals. Requires a wet or damp position and is quite hardy. A good plant to remove excess nutrients. Protect from wind. NO lime. Will grow to 1m tall. Perennial.

Aquatic. These are a stunner in a water garden. With their spear like green leaves and tall flower spikes of violet-blue with yellow stamens they can be used in most moist areas but are tolerant to bog and swamp edges as well. Perennial.

Excellent yellow-green creeper plant. Perfect to cover ponds edges or sprawl along as a groundcover. Yellow flowers are produced in summer time. Prefers moist soils but can tolerate fully submerged spot.

aka Water mint

Water mint is a great little plant for boggy areas. Insects such as bees and butterflies love its lilac-coloured flowers and you will love its tasty leaves which can be used just like those of other mint plants. It prefers pond edges and swampy areas. Does best in full sun or part shade. Perennial.

Easy grow submerged plant that tolerates cool temperatures if sheltered. Plants will grow submerged up to 5cm, or in a moist margin of a pond. The flowers are bright yellow and are produced on long stems in summer time.
Suitable for warmer areas including Auckland/Northland

Aquatic. NZ native. Beautiful with its feathery foliage that carpets the water surface. Grows well by the pond edge or near moving water. Can grow at any depth and it will stretch until it reaches the surface. Excellent for fish spawning. Winter tolerant.
