This darling little Agapanthus has wide, short, strappy green leaves and sturdy stems of white 'snowball' flowers that appear throughout the summer. Well behaved in that it does not seed everywhere and forms a nice compact clump. Happy in the sun. Hardy and evergreen.

'Graham Blandy' is an upright sort of chap who will always stand up tall and erect in the garden. With a natural columnar habit this Box is perfect for adding an exclamation point to planting schemes. Easy to grow in sun or part shade. Evergreen.

Ideal for narrow spaces or group together to form a natural screen of green. Perhaps march along the side of a path or drive. A very useful plant for directional planting.

aka Large Leafed Box or Wintergreen Boxwood

This form of Box has a larger leaf than many other varieties hence the name macro = large and phylla = leaf. The glossy green foliage looks good all year round and is particularly attractive in spring. Easy to grow in sun or part shade. Clips well, Evergreen

The perfect little shrub for low formal hedges or topiary work. Equally this Buxus looks good as a stand alone shrub to add substance to the border.

A compact Callistemon with vibrant, deep red new growth. It is a great low maintenance and more drought tolerant alternative to Photinia. Red Alert needs less pruning to establish a hedge and maintains the red growth for longer and has it in spring and autumn. Rarely if ever flowers. PVR.KPS38

Native. Ake Ake. A no fuss evergreen foliage shrub that can be used for hedging or background planting. The slightly wavy leaves are shaded purple and bronze and will have better colour if not over-fed or pampered. Will grow just about anywhere except full shade. Evergreen.

aka Pineapple Guava

Feijoa Gemini has smooth skinned, dark green oval fruit with a highly flavoured flesh. The flesh is a little gritty but overall is smooth and juicy. Matures quite early towards the end of March. Will crop better with a companion but is self fertile. Plant in a sunny well drained spot. Evergreen.

Native. A selected form of the ever popular Griselinia. Gorgeous, broad, glossy green foliage with attractive wavy margins. Ideal background shrub but at its best when used as a hedge. Tolerant of just about any planting conditions including coastal. Very tidy and well groomed. Evergreen.

Native. An easy to grow shrub which is invaluable for difficult sites as it is tolerant of almost any conditions including coastal. Fresh bright green foliage with attractive undulating edges. Particularly useful for hedging. Always looks neat and tidy, trims exceptionally well. Evergreen.

This little Iris has to be one of my favourite NZ natives as it has such dainty white "butterfly" flowers. The narrow sword like leaves form a strong clump, the flowers appear in summer followed by ornamental seed pods. Easy to grow in average soil in a sunny position. Evergreen.

If you want a tough and easy to grow ground cover or edging plant then it would be hard to go past Liriope Royal Purple. Strong grass-like dark green foliage that forms a clump and spreads. Spikes of dainty purple flowers appear throughout summer. Tolerates sun or part shade. Evergreen

Fringe Flower. Add some contrast to planting schemes with this easy to grow, evergreen shrub that has beautiful maroon-purple foliage that deepens in tone during the colder months. Fragrant, 'fringed' deep pink flowers in spring and summer. Sun to part shade.

AKA as Chilean Guava or NZ Cranberry. A reliable little shrub with tight small leaves in an attractive bronze green shade. Little white flowers in spring are followed by fragrant edible berries. Easy to grow, clips well so can be used for topiary or hedging. Evergreen.

Native. A very popular tree which is fast growing and frequently used for hedging, shelter and as a singular specimen tree The leaves, have a lemon scent when crushed. Cream yellow flowers. Hardy to just about everything including attacks by oppossums. Evergreen.

Native. A very attractive form of our NZ Pittosporum that forms a neat, evergreen tree ideal for screening or hedging. Glossy, wavy leaves of mid grey-green on stems that have a bluish hue. Easy and quick growing, trims well. Evergreen.

aka Germander

This evergreen shrub from the Mediterranean loves hot dry spots and does well at the sea-side. Attractive tubular blue flowers are set amoungst aromatic silver grey leaves from spring to summer. Makes a fantastic low hedge and clips well. Happiest in light well drained soil.

The secret to your Teucrium hedge looking good is regular trimming however it is important that your last trim for the summer is done no later than mid March.
