aka Chinese Maple Trident Maple

Spring growth emerges coppery-red and matures to a glossy dark green in summer. During autumn the leaves display red, yellow and orange. This small, sturdy maple has an oval to rounded, slightly spreading form. Bark is pale brown and attractively dappled with a papery texture. Deciduous.

Plants form low mounds of fragrant foliage, with clusters of upright flower stems in early summer. Gives a deep apricot salmon shade. Good for cutting, fresh or dried. Easy to grow perennial, growing in nearly any sunny situation, even where there is poor soil. Heat tolerant.

This is a lovely little shrub that smothers itself in tight clear pink buds that gradually open to pink flowers that have a hint of white. The flowers last for a very long time. Grow in morning sun or a dappled shade position in rich, moist, acid soil for best results. Hardy and evergreen.

Wetland Native. Wind Grass. An attractive and hardy perennial grass that is ideal for mass planting in difficult spots. The leaves are long, narrow and dark green tinged with orange especially in the winter. The fluffy flowers appear on arching stems in summer and are purple-pink. Evergreen.

Wetland. A NZ (Oioi) Reed with fine grey-green needles of foliage with brown markings at intervals along the length of the leaves. Forms a large clump. Grows in water or in damp ground. Tolerates salty water. Very decorative in a pot and useful for floral work. Tough as. Evergreen.

May be toxic to animals.

A heritage apple that was selected in NZ. The fruit is streaked bright red and has some russeting. The flesh is sweet and juicy with a very good flavour. Reliable and regular crops that are ripe around March. Deciduous.

Very attractive, early English, Heritage variety with rosy red flushed fruit. The flesh is crisp and juicy with a sharp taste. When left to ripen on the tree the fruit becomes sweeter with a taste that is reminiscent of strawberries. Yum! Disease resistant. Deciduous. Award winner.

This apple can only be classed as a 10. The skin is red blushed and the flesh crisp and juicy with a good balance between sweet and tart flavours. Very good for fresh eating. Abundant cropper, disease resistant and self fertile. Ripe around March. From the USA, 1978. Deciduous.

aka Wineberry or Makomako

Native-Wine Berry-Makomako Serrated green leaves with purple tones to the under-side, clusters of pink flowers in spring which are followed by juicy black berries that birds love. Grows happily in the sun in most soils as long as they are not too dry. Tolerates light frost. Semi-evergreen.

Berries will only occur on the female tree if pollination occurs. The Wine-Berry has separate male and female trees.

Thrift. Daydream -Dreameria collection released spring 2018. Masses of large, globe shaped blooms of a vibrant, vivid pink which last well. Foliage is green grass like swords formed in a clump. Great as a boarder edge or spotted throughout your flowerbeds. Prefers sun and good drainage. Evergreen.
