aka Clematis hybrid
A pretty, frilly, double flowered Clematis with large blooms in a soft mauve-pink that appear in spring. Silky seed heads follow the flowers. Likes to have its head in the sun and its roots in deep, cool, well drained soil. Deciduous.
Raised by Walter Pennell from seed set in 1962 and sown in 1963, named in 1974 after Violet Smith, a Pennell office employee i.e. the Violet part of the name does not refer to the colour of the flowers. Group 2
