Cabbage Tree. Add some serious Salsa sizzle to the garden or containers with this fabulous foliage plant. The arching, long, broad leaves have a strong red tone overlaid with pink. Will eventually form a trunk with foliage on top. Sun or part shade. Evergreen. PVR.

Cordyline “Showoff” features narrow, strap like, glossy green leaves with purple colourings. These are held off upright stems and provides for a very lush looking plant. It typically grows to 2 m tall and 60 cm wide, preferring a partial shade position with plenty of moisture and good drainage.

Good in a tropical garden, used as a screen or as a specimen in a pot. Can be grown indoors.

This close cousin of our native 'Cabbage Tree' hails from Australia where it grows in sub-tropical, moist shady conditions. The long dark green leaves tend to droop downwards making this a nice plant for a tall pot. Panicles of purplish flowers appear in late spring followed by berries. Evergreen.

Corokia are tolerant of coastal conditions, very hardy and thrive in just about any soil though their preference is for an open sunny site. Very quick to establish. If not trimmed to hard the little yellow flowers will turn into red berries in the autumn that birds love.
