The fig tree is highly ornamental as well has providing us with a delicious edible fruits. Broad lobed glossy green foliage and sweet fruit that ripens around March. Needs a sheltered sunny spot away from harsh winds and frost. Vigorous grower. Deciduous.

Fig trees usually fruit 2 to 3 years after planting. They fruit on the new wood. The fruit is picked when the green fruit starts to turn brown and as birds absolutely love figs you may need to cover the tree or be very vigilant. Enjoy.

Ventura fig has a compact growth form and produces large fruit with green skin and dark red interior flesh. The fruit have a pronounced long neck, ripen later in the season and perform well in the cooler climates of the figs' range. Ventura is grown both for drying and for fresh eating.

Bred in NZ Vlassoff is a variety of 'Honey Fig'. Large round fruit that are purple/black when mature. Succulent red flesh. Crops in January and April. Needs a really sunny position with well drained soil and protection from harsh frost. Deciduous.
