aka Queensland Nut

A NZ bred macadamia producing good crops of large nuts with good flavour over spring. Leaves are small with few prickles. Best cross pollination with another variety. Attractive evergreen tree that needs frost protection.

To ensure good cross pollination it is recommended that two varieties are planted together. NB Macadamias are toxic to dogs so choose your planting spot with care.
Suitable for warmer areas including Auckland/Northland

"Colby" produce meaty thin shelled pecans. Nuts mature in May to June when they fall from the tree. The tree will bear pecans after 5 to 7 years. Self fertile but will do better when cross pollinated with Carya Peruque. Plant in full sun, with moist well drained fertile soil. Deciduous.

Cultivated for over 6,000 years for delicious edible pine 'nuts'. The first cones which hold about 50 'nuts' will appear in approx. 6-10yrs. In the meantime you have a tree with a nice thick trunk topped off with a spreading umbrella of grey/green needles. Makes a great potted Xmas tree. Evergreen.
