A fabulous dwarf Agapanthus that is well behaved and tidy. Strap like green leaves form a neat clump and from mid spring onwards multiple stems of mid blue flowers appear continuously for months. So easy to grow. Lovely to pick. aka African Lily. Evergreen.

Native wetland grass. A bright green grass that forms a large clump. With age, a trunk-like mass of old leaves forms so the grass seems perched on a tall mound. Good for planting in damp to wet areas but will tolerate short periods of dryness. Plant around ponds as shelter for birds. Evergreen

This is a great little shrub that will grow just about anywhere, even dry, windy difficult sites. Narrow green leaves and a 'zig zag' branch pattern certainly add interest as do the bright yellow flowers that appear in spring. Red berries follow the flowers that will attract birds to your garden. Native. Chocolate without the calories! The soft melted chocolate colour of the leaves combines well with other foliage and looks fantastic as a formal hedge with a difference. Easy to grow and clips extremely well. Yellow flowers in spring followed by berries that birds love. Evergreen.

Native. Ake Ake. A no fuss evergreen foliage shrub that can be used for hedging or background planting. The slightly wavy leaves are shaded purple and bronze and will have better colour if not over-fed or pampered. Will grow just about anywhere except full shade. Evergreen.

Vigorous growing variety which ripens in autumn around April-May. Rough skinned fruit which are large, aromatic and very sweet. Partially self-fertile but cross pollination is essential for large fruit so plant with a companion for best results. Evergreen.

Well it's called 'Mammoth' for a reason - bumper crops of oblong shaped fruit that are full of flavour, ready to eat around May. Great for cooking and fresh eating, also makes a nice chutney. Plant with another Feijoa for best results. Prefers a sunny well drained position. Evergreen.

Native. A selected form of the ever popular Griselinia. Gorgeous, broad, glossy green foliage with attractive wavy margins. Ideal background shrub but at its best when used as a hedge. Tolerant of just about any planting conditions including coastal. Very tidy and well groomed. Evergreen.

aka Japanese Holly

Fabulous form and foliage make this Holly a useful and desirable plant. Growing naturally upright and columnar it looks great in containers or used as an accent point. Happy in sun or part shade. Small white flowers followed by black berries but these are fairly inconspicuous. Evergreen.

This is also a useful plant where a narrow screen or hedge is required, it will do the job without dominating or becoming a constant trimming problem.

One of the most popular Lavenders sold in NZ and there's a good reason for that. The plump purple flower heads appear in abundance from early spring through to late summer. It performs well, looks good and clips well. Happiest in a sunny well drained spot. Evergreen.

Use for low hedges, container planting, topiary work or just plant amongst your other treasures in the mixed border. A great little Mediterranean lavender that seldom disappoints.

If you want a tough and easy to grow ground cover or edging plant then it would be hard to go past Liriope Royal Purple. Strong grass-like dark green foliage that forms a clump and spreads. Spikes of dainty purple flowers appear throughout summer. Tolerates sun or part shade. Evergreen

aka Box Honeysuckle

Bushy evergreen shrub with tiny oval deep green leaves. Small creamy white fragrant flowers in summer. Often used as a faster growing Box substitute. Ideal for topiary work and very effective for hedging. Fast growing and hardy.

If you want to quickly establish a nice compact low hedge then this is the plant for you. Lonicera needs a little more clipping than Box but it is very easy to maintain. When used for hedging or topiary then the flowers and fruit will be non existent.
