aka Sedge

Attractive NZ native grass that forms a clump of tussock-like foliage. The leaves are a dark bronze purple. Upright and graceful, looks fabulous planted in large drifts. Hardy to just about any conditions but happiest in a sunny position that does not dry out completely in summer. Evergreen.

aka Autumn Sedge

Wetland Native - Autumn Sedge. Attractive tufts of coarse green foliage with strong bronze tones. Summer seed-heads of dark brown. Will grow happily in moist damp conditions in sun or part shade. Tough and robust, great for mass planting in difficult spots. Evergreen.

aka Tussock, NZ Sedge

This native 'grass' is really tough and hardy tolerating cold winds and almost any soil. The brick-orange foliage looks very graceful as it waves and dances in the wind. Ideal for planting in large drifts. If the clumps become a little untidy just chop back hard for renewed vigour. Evergreen.

aka Mirror Plant

Native. A fabulous foliage plant with clean shiny foliage that has golden tones in summer. As autumn approaches and the temperatures drop the foliage gradually changes to tones of deep orange and fiery red. Will grow just about anywhere but needs protection from harsh frost. Evergreen. PVR1086.

'Evening Glow' will benefit from a hair cut every now and then. This is best done around about February on a warm dry day.

Poor old Freddy not only is he flat he's not really all that handsome and can easily be walked upon. However he is very tough and hardy and will cover a lot of ground. Great little native to plant in difficult sites. Interesting fine brownish foliage on flat brown stems. Evergreen.

NZ Native. This form was discovered on cliffs near Hawera. It is a ground hugging native that forms a tight mat of small narrow olive green leaves. Excellent landscape plant for covering large areas of ground. Hardy, tolerant of cold and wind. Evergreen.

Native. This shade loving herbaceous ground cover also loves the damp. Found at the base of waterfalls and along streams and gullies so plant where consistent moisture is available. Filtered light will bring out the bronze tones but full shade is enjoyed by this lovely native perennial. Looks great co planted with ferns. Evergreen.

Stunning dark almost black foliage sets this hebe apart from many others. An attractive light pink flower tops this display in autumn and again in spring. This plant prefers full sun and will benefit from a light prune after flowering.

This hebe was developed by a Waikato Nursery as part of the Regal Series of Hebes and named for the Duchess of Cambridge. New leaf shoots are burgundy red in colour, maturing to deep olive green. Masses of purple flowers develop through summer. Trim back after flowering to keep tidy. PVR eligible.

Native. This is a top performing Hebe with glossy, fresh green foliage that looks good all year round and shows good disease resistance. Clusters of pretty mauve flowers appear from spring through to summer. Nice compact, well behaved habit. Hardy and tolerant. Evergreen.

NEW TO US. A lovely Hebe that will be smothered with lilac purple flowers throughout the year. The foliage is green and highlights on red stems. Prefers a sunny position and free draining soil. Looks stunning bulk planted in landscaping or as a specimen in the garden or pot on the deck. Evergreen.

This low-mounding evergreen shrub is spectacular when it blooms. As they age, the flowers eventually fade to white. The dark green leaves are long and tapered. Out of bloom, it is the dark purple leaf buds that hint at the spectacular show that awaits the gardener. Evergreen

This little Hebe hybrid is well named as it is indeed delightful. Fresh green narrow foliage and pretty sprays of white flowers from spring to summer. Sometimes the blooms have just a hint of soft lilac. Always looks neat and tidy. Happy in a sunny well drained position. Evergreen.

Prune your Hebe 'Otari Delight' lightly after flowering to encourage new growth. This Hebe was found as a seedling in Otari-Wilton's Bush in Wellington hence the name.

Native. Hebe Sandra Joy is a bushy evergreen shrub with beautiful dark purple flowers that appear in summer and autumn. Grow in sun or part shade. Prefers well drained soil. Tolerant of dry sites.

aka Topiarists Hebe

A lovely neat and tidy Hebe that always looks like it has just been clipped hence the common name of Topiarist's Hebe. The dainty grey-green leaves on short stems form a rounded compact mound. Use in groups or as an ideal contrast plant. Likes the sun and well drained soil. Hardy and evergreen.

Hebe Topiaria will occasionally flower in summer with little white flowers that are rather inconspicuous. Its value is as a foliage shrub and is highly enough thought of to have received an Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society.

This hebe has masses of Violet flowers in late Spring- Early Summer that will completely cover the foliage and then the plants repeat flower again in Autumn. Prefers a sunny position and free draining soil.

Bred by Jack Hobbs from the Auckland Botanical Gardens this is a tolerant little Hebe with delightful bright pink flowers that smother the stems from early summer. Dainty small leaves that clip well - makes a tidy low hedge. Plant in a sunny well drained position. Very easy care. Evergreen.

Hebe. Attractive compact growing bush that produces rose purple flowers from mid autumn to mid spring. Prefers open position and benefits from removal of spent flowers to maintain size and shape and encourage repeat flowering. Evergreen.

Native. One of the best varieties for pot growing. Large, soft double pink flowering manuka. The bushy growth makes it perfect for a spectacular hedge, or just as at home as a specimen in the garden. Prune lightly after flowers for best shape.

aka Wire Vine

The twisting, tangled stems of this native Climber make for an interesting and useful plant that can be trained as a climber or used to scramble informally wherever you want quick cover and a plant of interest. Plant in morning sun in soil that does not completely dry out in summer. Semi-evergreen.

The flowers on the female form of Muehlenbeckia are inconspicuous but emit a pleasant fragrance. The flowers are followed by little white berries. This plant also responds well to clipping and is often used for informal topiary work.

Native. The term 'tenax' means strong and tough and this NZ Flax certainly is all of that. Broad swords of purplish foliage form strong clumps that are perfect for mass planting along stream banks, around ponds or naturalizing in the landscape. Tolerant of just about anything. Evergreen.

The summer flowers are much loved by birds especially the native Tui whose beak is perfectly formed to gather nectar from the blooms.

Native. A very popular tree which is fast growing and frequently used for hedging, shelter and as a singular specimen tree The leaves, have a lemon scent when crushed. Cream yellow flowers. Hardy to just about everything including attacks by oppossums. Evergreen.
