Japanese Maple. This is a beautiful Maple that is definitely a favourite of mine. The dainty, new spring leaves emerge pale yellow with hints of orange and red before slowly turning green over summer. In autumn the yellow and orange tones are once again to the fore prior to leaf fall. Deciduous.

'Kanzan' has received an Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society.

AKA the Weeping Rosebud Cherry this delightful little tree has an arching, graceful pendulous habit. In spring the branches are completely covered with sprays of dainty single pink blossoms. Use as a focal point in the border or perhaps even try in a large container. Deciduous.

A very pretty flowering Cherry which is one of the first to blossom in spring. The flowers are a delicate shade of pink and smother the bare drooping branches in September. Good autumn colour. Best to avoid strong winds so the blossom is kept on the tree for as long as possible. Sterile.

Raised in NZ by Felix Jury. Plant in a sunny, sheltered position in well drained soil for best results.

This tree was thought of as a species but is now thought to be an ancient hybrid of P.speciosa and P.subhirtella. No matter the origins it is a beauty. There are mass plantings in Washington DC and it is also a very popular street tree in Christchurch.

The Pin Oak is more moisture tolerant than other Oaks and has a shallow rooting system. That is because its natural habitat is poorly drained flat land in eastern-central USA.
