Native. This is the most common tree fern found in forests throughout New Zealand. It is a medium sized tree fern., fastest growing and tolerates a wide range of conditions. The fronds are harsh to touch and are dark green above and paler on the underside. Water well. Evergreen.

A popular member of the Iris family with narrow green sword like foliage and strong stems of open butterfly like blooms. The blooms have white falls with mauve standards and a splash of gold in the centre. Plant in sun or semi-shade and protect from harsh frost. Evergreen.

Dietes grandiflora is a dramatic landscaping plant when planted en masse and allowed to multiply. I've actually got one growing in a large terracotta pot which looks pretty good too.

A compact dwarf Escallonia with vibrant glossy leaves and brilliant pink bell-shaped flowers from late Spring to late Summer. Fast growing, it will develop into a showy hedge, clips well. Silver Dollar Gum. A fast growing and highly ornamental evergreen tree with rounded silver grey juvenile foliage. The adult leaves are longer and pointed. An excellent choice for quickly providing privacy or screening. Happiest in the sun with protection from frost.

This tree is a favourite for those who love to pick foliage. It responds well to any trimming so can be kept at a low height if desired.

aka Pineapple Guava

This variety of Feijoa has medium sized oval fruit with a rough skin. Inside the flesh is smooth and full of flavour. The fruit ripens around April. Plant in a sunny well drained spot with another Feijoa for company. The fruit will naturally drop when ready. Evergreen.

'Unique' is a reliable Feijoa that is self-fertile and produces abundant crops of delicious medium to large oval fruit. The skin is smooth along with the pulp and the flavour carries a hint of pineapple. Starts to fruit from a young age. Happy in a sunny well drained spot. Evergreen. PVR.

This fruiting fig is highly ornamental as well as productive. Large glossy green foliage and a vigorous growth habit with large fruit that are purplish brown with pink flesh and a rich flavour. Ripe in Jan - Feb. A favourite fig for jam and preserving. Likes the sun and protection from harsh frost. Deciduous.

A striking Gardenia with glossy green foliage and single creamy white blooms with a prominent yellow and scarlet eye. Plant in a semi-shaded, frost free position where you can make the most of the sensuous perfume. Keep trimmed to around 1m tall to encourage flowering. Evergreen

Gardenias are gross feeders - meaning that like me they like lots of tucker. Regular liquid feeding will keep them healthy and happy or side dress with slow release fertilizer.

Cranesbill. This plant was awarded RHS Plant of the Century at Chelsea 2013. A favourite of mine as it is easy care and flowers its head off from summer to autumn. Attractive grey-green foliage and loose clusters of long lasting mauve blooms. Likes sun or part shade and well drained soil.

If necessary during the long flowering period of 'Rozanne' you can give the plant a light trim all over to reinvigorate. It bounces back very quickly.

This Olive is popular for the large fruits that have a delicate mild taste. The Olives stay green rather than the usual black when ripe. The attractive grey/green foliage is slightly twisted. Plant in a sunny sheltered spot. Will fruit best with a companion such as 'Frantoio'. Evergreen.

Olives are easy care trees, that prefer a nice loamy soil and sunny position. Feed annually with a well-balanced fertiliser.
