Native. New Zealand Daphne. A delightful little plant that loves to scramble over rocks or drape over walls and banks. The dainty foliage is a soft blue/green colour and the small white flowers appear in summer. The flowers are followed by small clear white berries. Likes the sun, good drainage and protection from harsh frost. Evergreen.

Delightful mat forming native daphne with tiny blue grey leaves. Perfect to scramble over rocks and walls or use as a ground cover. Fragrant, tiny white flowers smother the plant in spring. Trim as required. Plant in a sunny well drained position. Evergreen.

Native. A terrific little ground cover with clusters of dainty, fragrant, white flowers that appear from winter through to spring and occasionally at other times of the year. Neat and tidy small grey leaves that form a spreading mat. Quite tough and hardy, responds to trimming. Evergreen. PVR.

Pimelea look lovely cascading over a wall or bank. They can be trimmed lightly after flowering to encourage new growth. This plant would even look good in a hanging basket.

Ribbonwood. A native tree that is worth consideration for any planting scheme. When young the interlacing branches are covered in small dainty leaves. The leaves and whole tree become more graceful upon maturity. Quite easy to grow and remarkably wind tolerant. Deciduous.

Native. A trouble free, easy care shrub that will grow almost anywhere. The drooping, arching branches have rigid, leathery foliage in shades of yellow-green. The tips of the branches will often root where they touch the ground therefore spreading on and stabilizing difficult sites.Evergreen.

Whilst this evergreen native tree will eventually reach 30m it won't happen in your life time as it is very slow growing. A highly valued native with a special place in Maori history. Dense, bronze green, stiff narrow leaves adorn a handsome pyramidal tree. Estimated height after 10 years, 6m.

aka Golden Totara

Native. A handsome specimen tree for sun or part shade. The stiff narrow leaves are a beautiful golden shade and complement the reddish brown bark. Slow growing, hardy and tolerant of all conditions except wet 'feet'. Height given is 10 year estimate. Evergreen.

Totara were a valuable timer source in early NZ. Maori also used large specimens to craft their war canoes. The peeling bark was used for roofing material and for fashioning food baskets.

Native- Miro. A tall growing forest tree with narrow dark green feathery foliage. The bark is grey-brown to black and falls off in large flakes. Produces large reddish-purple plum like fruit loved by the Kereru and Tuis. Plant in a semi-shaded spot in humus rich soil. Hardy. Evergreen.

The red berries are quite large and smell of turpentine and while they are loved by birds they should not be eaten by humans.

Native. This form of Kowhai was discovered in the Nelson region and was originally thought to be a form of S.microphylla but is now recognized as a distinct species. The dark green oval leaflets are longer than usual and the spring flowers are a soft lemon. Evergreen.

One of our largest forest canopy trees with an open habit. Puriri occurs naturally throughout the North Island from the coast to lowland forest. It has dark glossy green leaves and pinkish red flowers are produced throughout most of the year, followed by bright red berries. Frost tender, Evergreen.
