MayApple. This exotic perennial loves to grow in woodland conditions, it will spread happily in the shady, moist conditions. Dramatic foliage shaped a bit like an umbrella in mottled tones of green, bronze and silver. Stems of drooping burgundy flowers in summer followed by round seed pods.

Where there is a danger of late winter frosts it would pay to cover your clumps of Podophyllum if new foliage has started to emerge.
