Cuphea Ignea or the Mexican cigar plant is a genuine 'flowers continuously' plant. It keeps soldiering on until obliterated by frosts. A spreading shrub with lance shape leaves and tubular scarlet flowers with black at the tips and white edges, flowering in Spring through summer. Borders, rockeries and pots.

This plant is best treated as an annual in temperate areas and grown fresh each year from seed.
