A native with sweet perfect fuchsia flowers followed by the most amazing large red berries. Variegated pale green leaves, each with an irregular white margin, on trailing stems. A ground cover plant that is best suited to a moist and semi shade to shaded position. Easily grown. Deciduous.

A rare attractive and distinctive shrub. Leathery rounded grey-green leaves. Beautiful very long silver green catkins hang from the branch tips throughout the winter. Frost hardy and easily grown. Tolerates a coastal site. Evergreen.

As a point of interest there are separate Male and Female Garrya plants but the Male is usually grown because it as the longer catkins. An exception to the rule that says 'size doesn't matter.'

Hakea laurina is another species from Western Australia, there are various hybrids in cultivation. The wild species is an upright or sprawling shrub/small tree up to 6m. The flower heads are globe shaped, red in colour with bright white styles. Flowers in autumn and early winter.
