Flowering Gum. Handsome, single trunk, round headed tree with stringy reddish-brown bark. Glossy leaves with a red rib that are a deep grey-green. In summer spectacular flowers are displayed well above the foliage. Likes the sun and protection from frost especially when young.

The flower colour can range from brightest red, orange, pink on seedling grown trees. No matter what the colour this is a very showy tree.

Rosea is a popular tree for its abundance of large mainly red flowers that cover the tree in late winter and early spring. Rosea develops an open spreading crown, once the tree is established. The Australian Frangipani is a fast growing slender tree with glossy, dark green, pointed foliage. In spring and summer the tree is smothered with dainty, highly fragrant creamy-yellow flowers. Needs a sheltered site in full sun with protection from harsh frost and wind. Evergreen.

If you look at the flowers of this tree carefully you will see that it is closely related to our native Pittosporum - in fact they are in the same plant family - CER in action!

These giant silver proteas are beautiful trees with light-reflecting, silky, silver leaves. An erect ornamental tree, with a stout trunk and thick grey bark. They are at their most silver in hot, dry weather, when the hairs on the leaves lie flat to protect the leaves from drying out.

Avoid fertilisers but will respond well to compost or peat.
