Everyone loves the smell of Eucalyptus. This variety has smooth bark and stiff thick grey-green leaves. Its large bell shaped fruits will remain on the plant for many years unless picked. Large yellow flowers in Spring. Hardy to a range of soils that are free draining and full sun. Evergreen.

The Australian Frangipani is a fast growing slender tree with glossy, dark green, pointed foliage. In spring and summer the tree is smothered with dainty, highly fragrant creamy-yellow flowers. Needs a sheltered site in full sun with protection from harsh frost and wind. Evergreen.

If you look at the flowers of this tree carefully you will see that it is closely related to our native Pittosporum - in fact they are in the same plant family - CER in action!

These giant silver proteas are beautiful trees with light-reflecting, silky, silver leaves. An erect ornamental tree, with a stout trunk and thick grey bark. They are at their most silver in hot, dry weather, when the hairs on the leaves lie flat to protect the leaves from drying out. Evergreen

Avoid fertilisers but will respond well to compost or peat.

Bred by in NZ by Mark Jury. A beautiful, easy to grow Michelia with dainty spring flowers which are delightfully fragrant and coloured an unusual lilac pink. The dark green foliage always looks good and is disease resistant. Happy in the sun or part shade. Evergreen.

I put 6 of these in my front garden a year ago and they have done remarkably well and seem quite robust. I intend to trim them up to make a standard shape but they do equally well left as a bush or used as a hedge.

Grandiflora. This tree is definitely in my top 10! Always looks good, tolerates just about any conditions. Glossy green leaves accented with a bronze under felt, large creamy white blooms that are softly fragrant. Wonderful as a single specimen or as an avenue planting. Evergreen.

Coco is part of the M figo family with larger blossoms and more prolific flowering. Grows to 3 m good for a large pot that can be wheeled out once in full bloom so its fragrance fills the air. The fragrance is stronger than Figo. Ideal for screens and hedge with full sunshine or shade.
