Stevia grows to 2 feet (30cm) in the wild and 3 feet in cultivation. A spindly and many-branched plant. Its fine roots spread out on the surface of the soil, while a thicker part of the root grows deep into the earth. Stems are hairy, wand-like. Leaves are opposite, toothed, fibrous and dark green.
Stevia rebaudiana is in the sunflower family. It is commonly known as sweetleaf, sweet leaf or sugarleaf.
