Tools, Books and Melbourne????

Hi

Harrys  brother Peter arrived last night with a friend in tow and a bottle of Vino that we just had to try, consequently my plans for getting this email out Saturday night were lost in too many glasses of wine. Sunday saw a few IT issues so has become a mon morn project.

Now this bottle of wine was from the Wooing Tree vineyard down south and was a Pinot Noir appropriately named Blondie due to the fact that the elegant, champagne coloured wine had minimal skin contact. Have to say that the wine was delicious and we finished the bottle and a couple more.

The Wooing tree sits prominently in the middle of the vineyard and has long been the place for the locals to woo their lovers. This handsome pine is estimated to date from the 1920s and its folklore and romance is one of the features in Peters book ‘Trees of New Zealand' . If you haven't already you can still purchase this book as it would make a great gift not only for yourself but even for a friend. This is the deal that Peter has arranged for Wairere Nursery customers with an online New Zealand retailer Mighty Ape.  If you order through Mighty Ape not only is the price of the book $54.99 (RRP69.99), but also all the copies will be personally signed.

Shears       Pruning Saw     Secateurs

ARS Tools and Im not being naughty, this brand of secateurs and shears are called a A R S and I have to say that they are the best that I have ever used. The local rep gave me a pair of secateurs to trial and their first test was solid 8 hour day pruning fruit trees. I have been using them ever since for approx the last three months and they are just fab. My staff keep pinching them to use themselves.

The Shears are nice and light and ultra sharp, perfect for hedges and topiary work. We have even given the odd haircut to demonstrate how sharp they are!!

I love these pruning saws and I wouldn't be without mine. Ultra sharp and will cut through some quite decent size branches. Actually they are really good for roses as their narrow tip will get into those tight spots and I must confess that I use them for quite large branches as they are so sharp. To top it all off they fold away really nicely and are quite safe in your tool kit.

Pots  Perfect presents especially if you tart them up with some potted colour or even a herb or three. They make for awesome outdoor table settings or even for that sunny window sill with a few herbs. Candles always make for excellent gifts and these will definately add some romance to these long summer evenings.

Housekeeping

Our last day for dispatch of mail orders will be Tuesday the 20th of December and there will be no more mail orders again until Wednesday the 11 of January 2012.

Its so good that it has rained a decent amount and I hope that you all got a good wetting at your place. After such a great spring it had started to dry out and the rain was much needed.

Hope that you all had a great weekend and have an even better week and the buildup to xmas is not too stressful.

Cheers,

Lloyd and Harry

Make it a Wairere weekend where gardenings not a drag!!!!!
