Lets help our friends in Christchurch

Hi

Doesn't your heart just go out to those down in Christchurch. When we first heard the news we were txting our friends who live down there to check that they were all safe and sound. You can imagine my surprise when a good Auckland mate txt me to say that he was safe and ok. He had flown down to Christchurch the day before and was teaching down there just for two days.

Our friends had their family and friends staying with them as their parent's houses hadn't fared so well. The idea to contribute our home grown food was something that we could do from up here in Hamilton.

First thing in the morn we dug fresh spuds (delicious jersey bennes) and picked zuchinni, dad contributed pears (Red Bartletts). Grabbed some jars of home grown honey and home made jam. There was even some hazelnuts from last years crop and new seasons garlic.  We topped off the boxes with corn on the cob.

The boxes were duly addressed and ticketed and along with the mail orders waiting for the courier man to collect. When the fastways man came  to collect he said that there are no deliveries to Christchurch, maybe next week. If you want to send things to folks down there, then please check with the courier company to see if services have been reinstated or go through the Red Cross channels. We will check with Fastways this coming week and give it another go.

On a personal note, our good friend Jane from Christchurch is looking for temporary accomadation here in the Ham / Cambridge areas for herself, two children, Mum and pets.  If you know of any, then just email me back and I can forward it on.

Trust that your weekend so far has been a good one and have a great week.

Cheers Lloyd and Harry
