Rambler. Albertine is a well loved rose and I am certainly a dedicated fan. Always admired as in full bloom it is quite a breath taking sight. Very fragrant, double, loose, salmon pink flowers produced en masse in spring with a few flowers in the autumn. Vigorous growth. Award winner. 1921.

Albertine is best suited to a wall or a fence and as it flowers mostly on older wood it is best to only prune sparingly. Though this rose mainly flowers in the spring there are so many flowers and for quite a long period it is well worth growing.

Outstanding NZ native that forms a handsome spreading tree. Large, glossy, light green dissected foliage. Sprays of rusty red woolly flowers appear in summer followed by scarlet berries with jet black seeds. Will grow in quite exposed conditions but protect from harsh frost. Evergreen.

A robust and easy to grow evergreen shrub with stiff green foliage. Masses of crimson 'bottle-brushes' appear at the end of each branch from spring through to autumn. Loved by the birds and the bees. Likes a warm position with protection from harsh frost but generally undemanding.

Bottle Brush. A spreading low growing form of this popular Australian shrub. During the summer it smothers itself with bright red 'bottle brush' flowers that are tinged with gold. Loves hot dry areas and happy on the coast. Quite drought tolerant once established. Evergreen.

Members of the Callistemon family or 'Bottle Brush' as they are commonly known do not like too much fertilizer. The safest way to give them some nutrients is with a slow release product but remember in this case 'less is more'.

Austin. This beautiful rose has very large, double, cupped blooms with a generous petal count. The blooms are shaded a rich golden yellow and the fragrance is very strong and fruity. Good disease resistance and repeats well. Just lovely to give as a gift to yourself or a special someone.

Climber Modern. This delightful rose certainly does have a golden future. Beautiful, scented, hybrid tea shaped blooms in soft yellow are set against glossy green foliage. This rose shows good disease resistant and is reliable and free flowering. Very pretty. 1999.

Austin. Everyone just loves Graham Thomas because he is so generous with his blooms which are lightly scented. He always looks his best with warm, golden yellow blooms set against mid green foliage. He's also very reliable and a top performer. Also used as a climber.

A popular NZ bred table grape that ripens towards the end of autumn. Good weather and disease resistance. Large-medium black fruit that look and taste great with an aromatic spicy flavour. Grapes will grow in most soils but do better with good drainage and of course they love the sun. Deciduous.

A delicious grape with a thin dark red skin. The grapes are seedless have a lovely delicate flavour. Crops well with medium sized bunches that are ripe in summer. The vine shows good disease resistance. Plant in a sunny well drained position and only prune in winter after leaf fall. Deciduous.

Pronounced 'Grooss ahn ar-kn' - the name of this rose refers to the the breeder's home town of Aachen and means "greetings to Aachen" - just in case you were wondering!

Hybrid Tea. This superb rose is the last to be bred by the international Rosarian Sam McGredy. A beautiful blend of cream, peach, apricot and salmon, with the darker tones towards the centre fading beautifully to the outer petals. Fragrant, disease resistant and sturdy. 2007.
