Citrus. Here's something to make you go 'Eureka' - an unusual variegated form of this popular Lemon. Both the foliage and fruit are variegated green and lemon but the fruit turn completely yellow upon maturity. The flesh of the lemon has hints of pink. Evergreen.

Lemon Eureka loves a warm sheltered spot in the garden with protection from harsh frost. The fruit has quite a low pip count and there are not too many thorns on the branches so if you fertilize and water regularly you've got yourself a great little Lemon tree. Citrus Information Pages

aka Mexican Lime

Citrus. Mexican or Key Lime. Flowers and fruits almost continuously if grown in a nice warm sheltered position. The fruit is small and round and yellow when completely ripe. Not so acidic as other limes, the aromatic skin is popular in cooking. Frost Tender, suitable warmer climates Evergreen.

aka Lime

Citrus. A popular Lime for ornamental and culinary purposes. The fragrant white blossom has an attractive pink tinge. Aromatic foliage and fruit that is quite a deep yellow when ripe. The peel is easy to remove. Yellow juicy flesh which has a well balanced mild acidity. Evergreen.

This Lime originated in India but made its way to Hawaii around 1885. It is a common garden plant there and it is also very popular in Trinidad. It is more cold hardy than many Limes but is still best protected from harsh frost. Citrus Information Pages

Citrus. Mandarin Lime. This Citrus has a bit of an identity crisis in that it looks like a Mandarin but tastes like a lime. It hails from India and its a vigorous grower with light green foliage and relatively few thorns. The fruit is considered superior for marmalade production. Evergreen.

A very special deciduous tree with a upright columnar (fastigate) habit. The distinctive fresh green foliage is large and lobed and turns a warm golden yellow in autumn. The summer flowers are also most distinctive - tulip shaped, fragrant and coloured green with an orange base. Deciduous.

The Liriodendron is commonly known as the 'Tulip Tree' because of the shape of flowers. 'Arnold' may take 3 to 4 years to flower after planting. Happy in sun or part shade in deep acid soil that does not dry out completely in summer.

This tough little Aussie is a great plant for mass planting in difficult spots. Tolerant of poor soil and coastal conditions, sun or part shade. The deep green narrow strap like leaves quickly form a clump. Small, yellow, fragrant flowers in spring. Evergreen. PVR LM300.

Grandiflora. An attractive large tree with an upright dense habit. Leaves are highly polished and richly felted with bronze on the undersides. Flowers are large creamy white, globe shaped and fragrant. Great for using in floral art work.

This Mandarin is very popular in Queensland where it was discovered as a chance seedling in 1888. The virtually thorn-less tree produces large fruit with a thin easy peel skin. Ripens around July. If left on the tree you will notice the skin gets 'puffy'. Evergreen.

As with all Citrus make sure you cut the fruit off the tree rather than just pull. Your Mandarin will grow well in a warm, well drained fertile spot in the garden with protection from harsh frost. Also suitable for container growing with regular feeding and watering. Citrus Information Pages

aka Clementine Mandarin

This new improved Clementine variety ripens around June-July. It has good sized, juicy fruit with very few seeds and a tangy flavour. Peels easily and cleanly. Generally crops well. Plant in a sunny, well drained spot in fertile soil. Evergreen.

AKA as Chilean Guava or NZ Cranberry. A reliable little shrub with tight small leaves in an attractive bronze green shade. Little white flowers in spring are followed by fragrant edible berries. Easy to grow, clips well so can be used for topiary or hedging. Evergreen.

aka Chinese Sacred Bamboo

This highly decorative form of the Chinese welcome bush is valued for the wonderful autumn foliage colour which intensifies to a brilliant red in winter. Though 'Gulfstream' is easy care and hardy the plant will appreciate some slow release fertilizer at the end of summer. Evergreen.

'Gulfstream' can be used as a low hedging plant with great success. It has a nice compact and well behaved habit. Equally at home in a container.

aka Chinese Tupelo

Chinese Tupelo. A desirable ornamental tree which is highly rated for its spectacular autumn colour. New growth in spring is tinged red gradually turning green for summer, tones of intense red and yellow prior to leaf fall. Prefers moisture retentive soil, sun or part shade. Deciduous. Est.10yr.growth.

Nyssa resent being moved so choose your planting spot with care. If at all possible avoid an extremely windy site.

This olive from Greece has a nice compact form making a good choice for topiary work. Attractive grey green foliage and small white flowers followed by heavy crops of small fruit that have good oil content. Happiest in the sun with protection from harsh wind. Keep watered when young. Evergreen.

While Olives can tolerate poor soil they are happiest in nice fertile loam. Feed annually with a well-balanced fertiliser.
