An upright small tree, big shrub with slender panicles of deepwine-red, single, deliciously fragrant flowers that will bloom in late Spring, with its dark green heart shaped leaves. Likes full sun but will tolerate partial shade. Deciduous.

Regarded as one of the best purple lilacs.
