Floribunda. A pretty rose named after a lovely lady - NZ Rosarian Nancy Steen. The abundant blooms are large, fully double, fragrant and borne in clusters. The colour is blush pink with a cream centre. Nice glossy dark bronze-green foliage. Bred in NZ 1976.

The late Nancy Steen also has a rose garden named after her in the Parnell Rose Gardens - Auckland. Lovers of roses and history should also check out her book 'The Charm of Old Roses'.

Floribunda. Flowers start as a tight pointed bud and open to a very clear pink with a mild, sweet fragrance. Blooms in flushes throughout the season. Nice tidy bush. Bred by McGredy (1986) and introduced in New Zealand by Egmont Roses in 1993 as 'Northland'.

aka Old Black Moss

Moss. An exquisite rose with tight buds clad with dark green 'moss' that open to reveal small flowers in sumptuous maroon-black highlighted with golden stamens. The blooms carry a sweet fragrance and appear in summer. Small dainty leaves and few prickles. France 1845.

Pronounced 'Nwee duh yoong' this rose is named for poet Edward Young whose poem 'Night Thoughts' was very popular in the 19th century.

Modern Shrub Polyantha. Another delightful rose from French breeder Delbard. This rose produces masses of semi-double pink to soft lavender flowers that have a white central zone highlighted with yellow stamens. The blooms have a lovely fragrance. Very free-flowering. PVR 2000.
