Bred in NZ Pacific Challenger produces an all green spear. Early to mid season variety. Yummy Asparagus packed full of vitamins and a very welcome early spring vegetable. Easy to grow but they do need a dedicated sunny spot with good drainage to mature and multiply. Plant crowns in trenches that have been back filled with mulch or compost. Perennial.

A large round Avocado that is traditionally harvested mid-summer to autumn. The thin skin remains green when ripe. The flesh is smooth, rich and buttery with a nutty flavour. Plant in a warm sheltered position with protection from frost. Must have excellent drainage and prefers rich loam. Group A Evergreen.

'Reed' Avocados originate from Guatemala (just like Dr Ropata) and require frost free conditions when flowering in early spring in order for there to be a good fruit set. Either Fuerte or Bacon varieties can help with pollination in cooler areas.

Quick growing round headed small tree with large, deeply lobed, evergreen leaves that have a coating of hairs on the underside. Bright yellow, delicious fruit about the size of a small apple are produced, usually within 2 years if both male and female are present. Harvest in late winter, early spring when fruit is yellow and softened.

Feed with high phosphorus NPK fert in spring and summer. Male and female flowers may be produced on the same plant or seperate plants. A plant may vary from male to female during the year. Therefore, to ensure pollination more than one plant is needed.
