Native- Miro. A tall growing forest tree with narrow dark green feathery foliage. The bark is grey-brown to black and falls off in large flakes. Produces large reddish-purple plum like fruit loved by the Kereru and Tuis. Plant in a semi-shaded spot in humus rich soil. Hardy. Evergreen.

The red berries are quite large and smell of turpentine and while they are loved by birds they should not be eaten by humans.

Native Matai. A magnificent growing forest tree with dark bark and narrow dark green feathery foliage. The female tree has bright red berries that appear after flowering and these are a favourite food of the Kereru. Plant in a semi-shaded spot in humus rich soil. Hardy and evergreen.

Native. Five Finger. Large, deep green leaves made up of 5 serrated leaflets or 'fingers' of foliage which give this plant its common name. Small scented green flowers in summer that bees love are followed by bunches of black berries enjoyed by birds. Happy in sun or part shade. Evergreen.

NZ Native Lancewood. When juvenile this tree has a single stem and stiff sword-like narrow leaves that are a bronze green shade. Older plants form a rounded head of smaller leathery foliage. Striking landscape plant especially when planted in groups. Tolerant of sun or part shade and light frost. Evergreen.
