aka Karamu

Native. Commonly known as Karamu this evergreen native shrub has small dark green leaves with pale under-sides. Insignificant pale green flowers are followed by small orange berries that birds love. Easy to grow in sun or part shade with protection from harsh frost. Trim regularly to keep tidy.

Early Maori used Karamu as a food source and of course native birds love the berries. Believe it or not Coprosma are in the same family as the coffee plant but we wouldn't recommend substituting Karamu for your favourite brew!

Commonly known as the Mirror Plant because of the beautiful glossy shiny foliage. 'Tequila Sunrise' has a cocktail of foliage colours starting with emerald green and soft yellow and gradually turning to brilliant orange and gold. Happy in sun or part shade. Evergreen. PVR SHM29.

The colour of the foliage of this plant will intensify in cooler conditions. Can be used as a hedge as it trims very well. The last trim before winter should be done no later than March.

Native. A most handsome and striking form of our native 'Cabbage Tree'. The green swords of foliage are heavily banded with rich cream blushed with just a little pink. Looks magnificent in a container or group planted for extra impact. Tolerates sun or part shade. Evergreen.

This Cordyline is very popular in Britain and has been awarded a Certificate of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society.

Native. The ubiquitous green Cabbage Tree has earned its place as a NZ icon both in the natural and cultivated landscape. Rich green sword-like foliage that forms a broad head on top of a strong trunk. Panicles of fragrant cream flowers in summer. Grow in sun or part shade. Evergreen.

Cordylines look best planted in groups of 3 or more. They will also do well as a container plant.

Cordyline Jive has been bred in Te Awamutu and has unique variegated foliage. The new leaves emerge a variegated cream and bright green colour. As the plant matures the variegation changes to yellow and dark green. Plant in full sun or part shade. Prefers well drained soil.
