Though Alberic Barbier puts on its main display in spring and it is truly beautiful in full flower there will be sparodic flowering through to autumn.

Rambler. Albertine is a well loved rose and I am certainly a dedicated fan. Always admired as in full bloom it is quite a breath taking sight. Very fragrant, double, loose, salmon pink flowers produced en masse in spring. Vigorous growth. Just a few flowers in autumn. Award winner. 1921.

Albertine is best suited to a wall or a fence and as it flowers mostly on older wood it is best to only prune sparingly. Though this rose mainly flowers in the spring there are so many flowers and for quite a long period it is well worth growing.

Climber. An unusual and very beautiful climbing rose that flowers in spring or early summer only. The double, quartered and fragrant flowers are a rich mixture of yellow and apricot orange. Healthy dark bronze green foliage. Will tolerate some shade and looks lovely scrambling up a tree. 1956.

Hybrid Tea. Shapely pointed buds opening to brilliant scarlet-orange, luminous blooms on a big healthy bush. Growth upright with strong stems. Great for picking and very elegant in tall arrangements. Good disease resistance. Seldom disappoints. 1972.

This rose was bred by Harkness Roses of England and was named to honour Earl Alexander of Tunis who was a British General during World War II - the breeder served with the General during the war.
