Relatively small plant that has coarse foliage and lots of thorns but oh so beautiful in bloom. Fragrant and repeats well. Can be grown in a pot. 1873.

An enchanting old rose that became known around 1848 but is certainly older than that. The fully double purple blooms have an exquisite fragrance.
