aka Constance Spry

Climber. One of the first introductions in what are now known as English roses. Old fashioned cupped and full blooms in clear bright pink. Only flowers in the early summer however the flowers are very long lasting. Delicious fragrance. Healthy and vigorous. Award of Garden Merit. 1960. Deciduous

Summer flowering from the old wood. Dead head flowers when spent.

Hybrid Musk. When I first started growing roses this was one of my favourites. The small double flowers are produced in large clusters and are a blend of apricot, buff and pink. Nice bronze tones to the foliage and a good musky fragrance. Few thorns. Use as large shrub or small climber. 1925.

Climber - Noisette. We just love this rose at Wairere and it is much admired in our garden. Seldom without a bloom from spring through to autumn. The flowers are a silky shade of apricot yellow with a loose relaxed petal formation. Good sweet fragrance and simply stunning in full bloom. Few thorns

Modern Climber. A new climber with old world blooms. Very pretty soft pink, cup-shaped double blooms with a lovely sweet fragrance. Masses of flowers cover this rose and repeat well. Nominated for "Rose of Excellence" award in The Netherlands. Awarded Certificate of Merit.

aka Magnolia Rose

Climber-Tea. My first impression of this rose is one of grace and softness. Large, double, well shaped blooms of creamy white tinged with pink. The blooms open flat and ruffled and are richly fragrant. Foliage is light green and plentiful. Repeats well. 1838.

Climber Floribunda. One of the very best red climbers -ever- and bred right here in NZ. This easy to grow and well behaved climbing rose is nearly always in flower with semi-double, dark red blooms. Generally healthy, never fails to please and looks great growing along a fence. Great for picking.

Multi award winner. 1976.

Climber. This well behaved climber will delight you with its rich cream blooms that age to a lighter shade of white on the vine. Flowers in abundance over summer and autumn. This rose is a strong climber with dark glossy foliage and the added bonus of having very few thorns. Bred by Rob Somerfield.

Climber - Hybrid Tea. Large, fragrant, double, deep crimson blooms from summer to autumn and masses of glossy, dark green leaves. This vigorous, repeat-flowering climbing rose is one of the best climbing roses for covering a wall. The large, fragrant blooms make excellent cut-flowers. 1931.

Etoile de Hollande was first known as a bush rose - this climbing sport from the Netherlands came to the fore in 1931 and is much more vigorous than the bush.

Climber. New Release. A luscious new Persica hybrid in a warm, rich, amber shade, touched with blood red at each petal's base. As with all persica roses the colour will fade as the flower matures on the vine. Another disease resistant rose bred by Rob Somerfield. 2019. Deciduous

Climber Noisette. A beautiful, repeat flowering old rose that has large, full, quartered flowers. The buff apricot flowers have a delicious 'old world' fragrance. After 150 years it is still a firm favourite. Sometimes known as 'The Old Glory Rose'. 1853.

Climber Modern. This delightful rose certainly does have a golden future. Beautiful, scented, hybrid tea shaped blooms in soft yellow are set against glossy green foliage. This rose shows good disease resistant and is reliable and free flowering. Very pretty. 1999.

Modern Climber. The large golden yellow blooms, repeat well and cover this vigorous, shapely plant. Has a moderate, citrus fruity and spicy fragrance. This multi award winner is simply one of the best modern climbers. Bred by Tim Hermann Kordes (Germany, 1995).

Climber. A pretty pink Climbing rose that does indeed have 'High Hopes' as it will reach up to 4m. The double blooms are produced in abundance throughout the season and have a sweet strawberry fragrance. Nice dark green foliage and generally a healthy vigorous grower. 1992.

Climber Floribunda. One of the best white roses - ever! Very free-flowering with scented clusters of shapely, double white blooms with just the lightest blush of pink as they mature. Hardy and tolerant - can even cope with some shade. A top 10 rose. 1968.

This rose is AKA Schneewittchen, Fee des Neiges and Korbin in other parts of the world - aren't you glad it's just called Iceberg in NZ? No matter what the name is - this is just a great rose, well worth planting.

Modern Climber. Pure white blooms sparkle above mid-green foliage on this healthy, vigorous climber. Softly fragrant, the petals of each flower can display subtle notched edges as they open. Good repeat flowering. Bred in NZ by Bob Matthews. Deciduous

The name of this rose commemorates a French-Canadian folk heroine of the 1920's.

Climber. Bred in NZ by Rob Somerfield this rose has copper buds that open to semi-double blooms in a unique shade of terracotta. Roses offset beautifully by dark glossy foliage. Has good disease resistance and is easy to train on walls/fences because of its slightly lax habit. Award Winner. PVR 2004

An unusual shade but one that combines well with blues, maroons and greys. Lovely against brick or stucco. I love it!

Climber. An excellent climber with large, lightly scented, double flowers of soft golden yellow set against healthy, glossy, foliage. Top performing yellow climbers are few and far between, and this is one of the best. 2002.

Those that took part in the NZ Rose Review 2010 rate this climber highly. It performed well in BOP, Waikato and Canterbury.

Climber Bourbon. A lovely and long flowering rose with a generous amount of blooms and few thorns. The flowers are fragrant, semi-double, pink and quite charming. Being almost thorn-less it is perfect for a prominent position. Will tolerate some shade. 1919.
