Lagerstroemia - Crepe (or Crape) Myrtle – a versatile and showy specimen tree!

Crepe Myrtles are an upright deciduous tree or large shrub that have dark green leaves emerging bronze. The crinkled flowers, hence the name "crepe", appear from summer to autumn in shades of white, pink, red or purple.

Crepe Myrtles require moderately fertile, well-drained soil. Best planted in a warm sheltered position.

The common name for this elegant and graceful shrub is Crepe Myrtle because of the clusters pretty 'crinkled' soft pink flowers that appear from summer to autumn. Along with the flowers there is attractive bronze-green foliage and smooth bark. Plant in a warm sheltered position. Deciduous.
