In spring and summer myriads of starry shaped white flowers dance above the foliage, followed by fleshy purple berries. Native Matai. A magnificent growing forest tree with dark bark and narrow dark green feathery foliage. The female tree has bright red berries that appear after flowering and these are a favourite food of the Kereru. Plant in a semi-shaded spot in humus rich soil. Hardy and evergreen.

Native. Five Finger. Large, deep green leaves made up of 5 serrated leaflets or 'fingers' of foliage which give this plant its common name. Small scented green flowers in summer that bees love are followed by bunches of black berries enjoyed by birds. Happy in sun or part shade. Evergreen.
