This is a large bromeliad with tough, leathery leaves that are slightly ribbed. Inflorescences can be over 2m tall, with many small white flowers. Originally from high altitude areas in Brazil it can tolerate quite cold nights and even a light frost. Also more sun-tolerant than many other bromeliads

Large growing bromelliad with upright bracts of shiny red leaves. Flowers are red and yellow and can reach 2m in height. Thrives in warm position with protection from frost and will be brighter colour in sun.

Alchemilla mollis 'Thriller' is larger and more robust than the species, forming mounds of lobed, grayish-green fuzzy leaves topped by airy yellow flowers in spring. It is best in moist soil in part shade. Great as a groundcover or for cutting.

The common name is the Lady Mantle.The wavy edged leaves are meant to represent the cloak or mantle that covered Mary as she travelled to Bethlehem.

The species is frequently cited as being used in herbal medicine since the beginning of the first century AD. A stemless or very short-stemmed succulent plant. Can be used on bug bites, scratches, sunburn, acne, grazes, scarring tissue.

Lemon Verbena. This open and rangy shrub will not win you over with its looks but will wow you with the delicious aromatic fragrance. Likes good drainage, sunlight and tolerant of light frost. Steep leaves in water to make a refreshing drink. Deciduous.

Give this plant a good tidy up every now and then with sharp secateurs - it will respond well. Small sprays of pale lavender flowers appear in summer but it is really the foliage that makes this shrub desirable.

A smaller ginger with thick, lush, dark green foliage. The foliage is fragrant when rubbed. The compact growth habit makes it ideal for borders, under-storey filler, in pots and containers . Can be grown as an indoor plant. Evergreen.
