A rare attractive and distinctive shrub. Leathery rounded grey-green leaves. Beautiful very long silver green catkins hang from the branch tips throughout the winter. Frost hardy and easily grown. Tolerates a coastal site. Evergreen.

As a point of interest there are separate Male and Female Garrya plants but the Male is usually grown because it as the longer catkins. An exception to the rule that says 'size doesn't matter.'
