Quince. This popular selection is from Turkey and fruits at a young age. Very large, pear shaped, golden yellow aromatic fruits with mild and tender flesh of excellent quality. The fruit keeps very well and can be used for cider, jams and preserves. Harvest March, April may. Moderate sized tree with unusually large leaves. Deciduous.
Quince have a slightly different habit from other orchard trees in that the fruit blossom is borne on the current seasons growth therefore it is best to only lightly prune. Just take out any spindly branches in order to keep the tree open.
