The Pithari is one of the many classics of Cretan pottery design and was used up until very recent times as a storage jar. It is a small narrow-necked vessel or bottle shaped like a sphere, that people used in ancient Greece to store oil or wine. Admirable indoor or outdoor planters or their timeless design can be simply decorative.
