Clematis. One of the loveliest NZ Native plants, suitable for trellises, walls or rambling joyfully through trees. Festoons of large, starry, pure white blooms with golden anthers appear in spring, followed by silken seed heads. Keep roots cool with a nice layer of mulch. Evergreen.

Dark green fern like leaves and oh so pretty single white flowers that appear in abundance in the spring make this little Sweet Hart a must have. Its naturally scrambling habit make it perfect for draping over banks and walls and it looks great in a hanging basket. Evergreen.

As with all Clematis 'Sweet Hart' prefers to have a cool root run so it is important to keep the base of the plant well mulched. It will perform its best in a sheltered position. Growing Clematis

aka Creeping Fig

A useful plant for covering up anything ugly or unsightly - in the garden that is. Self clinging aerial roots clamber along walls, up fences, water tanks etc. Small juvenile foliage is an attractive bronze green. Grow in sun/part shade and needs protection from harsh frost. Evergreen.

This is a plant that I am never without in the garden. I prefer the small mature leaves and usually trim off the more mature rangy growth. Creeping Fig does not like harsh frost and will show signs of some stress in very cold winters but usually recovers well.

aka Yellow Jasmine

Known as Yellow Jasmine because of its Jasmine shaped and fragrant flowers. A sturdy climbing vine that will happily cover a trellis or climbing structure. Prolific bloomer. Poisonous if ingested. Prune regularly to maintain a tidy habit. Evergreen

Jasminum Beesianum is a popular climber with deep rose pink slightly fragrant flowers in mid summer along the stems. Unpruned it can reach a height of around 5m easy to trimmed into shape after flowering. Grow on walls, trellis or fences; a good screening plant. Loved by bees. Evergreen

aka Primrose Jasmine

Jasminum mesnyi is one of the true yellow jasmines. This ornamental climber is both vigorous and hardy. They rich yellow flowers are not known to be fragrant but for sheer colour display it is a winner. Responds well to pruning after flowering. Excellent bonsai jasmine. Evergreen.

Pandorea jasminoides ‘Charisma' has irregular green and cream variegated foliage, and soft pink flowers with a dark pink throat. The lush variegated leaves clothe the slender stems from top to bottom, providing a neat background to the panicles of flowers, and taking centre stage when the plant is not in bloom.
