Native. An extremely attractive and graceful evergreen tree which is quick to establish and easy to grow. Fresh green foliage all year round. In summer star shaped, honey scented white flowers appear en masse and almost smother the foliage with their display. Plant in sun or semi-shade.

A very useful tree where quick screening is required. Makes a nice back-ground of foliage as well. Should be used more in planting schemes in my opinion. Tolerates most conditions except for really harsh frost when young.

Native. An attractive, evergreen native tree. The green oval leaves have a serrated edge and purple underside. This is highlighted as the leaves rustle in the breeze. Perfumed, star shaped white flowers in summer. Easy to grow as long as protected from harsh frost. Evergreen.

Wetland Native. Tough and hardy clump forming, rhizomatus perennial that is ideal for damp and swampy areas. Forms a sturdy clump of tall needle like foliage. Quite architectural next to ponds and streams. Prefers the sun and plenty of moisture but really is very tolerant. Evergreen.

This handsome evergreen native forms a slender, erect tapering tree with deep green leaves that have saw-toothed margins. In spring, reddish bottle-brush like flowers appear which provide a nectar feast for native birds. Grows well in average soil in sun or part shade. Avoid harsh frost.

Fast growing evergreen shrub or small erect tree. Bright green leaves which release volatile oils when crushed. Similar to Manuka but leaves are soft and flowers and seeds are smaller than Manuka. Attractive branching pattern and profuse flowering in summer.

A beautiful, slow growing, large tree with distinctive buttresses at the trunk base. The toothed foliage is round and glossy green. An excellent tree for growing in swampy areas and low lying gullies in forest and in the West Coastal in the South Island. NZ Native. Evergreen.

They do best in wetter sites on edges of streams or lakes. Can be a good for stabilizing banks because of its shallow root system.

Native. Interesting and attractive little ground-cover with fresh green, flat, fern like foliage that sometimes has a hint of bronze. Quite fast growing in sun or part shade and tolerant of coastal conditions. Sometimes used as a 'now mow' lawn substitute. Evergreen.
