Semi-evergreen shrubby perennial that hails from South Africa. The tall straight stems of aromatic foliage are topped off in summer and autumn with whorls of bright orange, furry, tubular flowers. Very striking. Plant in the sun in well drained rich soil for best results. Protect from frost. Semi-evergreen.
Leonotis or as it is commonly known 'Lion's Ear' will tolerate dry periods once it is established. Can be grown in coastal conditions. Cut back stems quite hard after flowering.

A striking hybrid producing attractive vibrant red and cream bracts in mid winter. Has quite a vigorous habit with the long stems being excellent for cutflower. Suited to sunny situations in free draining acidic soils. This is a useful coastal plant. Prune to shape and size mid Spring. Evergreen.
Avoid fertilisers but will respond well to compost or peat.
