It is found only in the north of the North Island, to Kawhia on the west and East Cape on the east. Tarairi likes a good moist, free-draining soil. Although it tolerates shade, its form is fuller if grown in full sun. It will only tolerate a light frost, and is best provided with a wind break when young.
Has a classically pyramidal shape with striking tiers of branches that over time change to form a spreading canopy. Suitable as a speciman tree.

Wine/Jelly Palm. Stunning dark green to silvery bluish grey graceful petioles, with a thick grey trunk. Perfect landscape palm. Prefer relatively dry / free draining soil and enjoys full sun for strong growth and good colour. A superior choice for coastal areas. Frost and wind tolerant.

An attractive small tree with a very different juvenile and adult form. Its soft leaves are a mid to light green with a mottled marbling, becoming larger, thicker and glossier when older. Small, star-like, white, flowers late spring to early summer followed by black berries mid-summer to mid-autumn.

An attractive conifer that will become a stunning specimen in a garden. Has an upright, conical form and silver-blue needles. Yellow, pollen-covered male cones followed by small female cones. Hardy to the cold and prefers moist, well-drained soil.
A good timber tree with a fragrant and wood that is usable for construction, finish carpentry and furniture.

This Aussie native is a tidy, upright small leaved shrub or small tree which has a vivid flowering display, usually coinciding with Christmas. Masses of creamy white panicles smother the tree changing through pink and flame to brilliant red. Grows well in container. Likes well drained sandy loam soil in a sunny, frost free position.
