Merry Christmas and Happy New years

Hi

Four Sleeps  .....
Its that time of year, Parties, end of year functions and all the chores that must get done before Christmas day and then the whole country kinda goes into collapse for the day.  At the nursery, all the team are going flat tack to get all the hedges done, weeds sprayed, nursery fed and reblocked and then they are all off for a well-deserved break..  The Nursery is only closed for Christmas day itself and Harry and myself will be on deck keeping up with watering and the usual chores that go with a garden centre until all the gang return.
I want to say a big thank you to all our clients, both those that call in to see us and those that shop online, for your support and enthusiasm over the past year and years. Over the past year I have received many responses to our weekly email, by return email or verbally in shop which is very much appreciated as writing is new to me, but its time to have a break for a few weeks and set

Trim your hedges if you haven't already, cut the edges and mow the lawns before xmas and the chance are that you garden will look tidy after our spring flush. I have been lifting or limbing up all the trees around the place as after the spring flush they tend to get lower and lower
Summmer grasses love this warm weather and if you don't get on top of them can get away on all of us. They do however disappear quite quickly with the cooler weather of autumn.
A few tips for those pots if you are going away for a while
Saucers under your pots filled with water can solve watering if you are away though remember that long term this isn't a good idea as it can keep plants waterlogged. Anothjer idea is to move all your potted plants to one position and have them under a sprinkler that is on a timer.  Position them in a cooler spot ie more dappled light so they don't need as much water.

The old boy made these the other day and they are damn good.  He got the recipe from a friend and we all know how recipes get handed around and this particular one originated from the renowned Wayne Good of Clanfield Interiors in Cambridge.  We had some of our clients call in the other day who were off to one of his famous Christmas cuisine demos.  There is still time to get in a batch of baking to fill those tins for all those guests that call in over the holiday season.

House Keeping Over the Christmas Period
Opening Hours, we will be closed only on Christmas day, other wise the garden centre will be open 7 days as usual from 8.30am to 5pm
Mail orders,  resume again Tuesday the 15th of January.

Have a fun weekend
Cheers, Lloyd and Harry and the team
