Christmas Eve

Hi

Our Champagne Brekky has become an institution....

Suddenly its Christmas Eve and I wonder how we got here, .... time just goes so fast..... Its been all go at the nursery , trimming back, feeding and reblocking the plants so there isn't so much to do over the next four weeks and all the team get a well deserved break.

Its kinda weird being here at the Nursery tomorrow as its one of the only days that we are shut and here at home without the team and customers.  A Champagne breakfast is organised for all of our families and friends and it has become quite a big gathering. I have to own up to the fact that I don't buy any presents but we do this instead and its fabulous. Most come early, as its brunch after all and then they can all go off and do their own lunch and dinner events.

Tonight we will all pitch it and make these huge frittatas in Italian terra cotta saucers with all different flavours.  I usually use a base of potato and kumara and then personalise each one differently with asparagus, mushrooms, salmon, ham and herbs etc, whatever takes our fancy.  Home made muesli is already sorted as is old fashioned meatballs in a tomato sauce.

On the day we crank up the barbie and barbeque the sausages and bacon, crack open the Champagne and its all go, Harry has even dusted off the chocolate fountain for the nieces and nephews to dip strawberries, pineapple or marshmellows.

Another year is just around the corner

This holiday period is a great time to reflect on the past events of the year and also the way forward for the season that is just around the corner.  We have already started, by making indents for the new seasons stock ( and you also need to order if there is something specific that you require) but also on how the business can improve and be better. To that end I will be having a break from our weekly catchup until we are in the new year and will come back with some fresh new thoughts, ideas and of course fascinating  stuff about plants, roses, trees, perennials and the like. There nearly always is a story......

I would like to wish every one, a happy and safe Christmas and New year. Harry and myself would also like to say many, many thanks for you continued support and business. We will be open all of the Christmas and New year period as there is always some watering to check on and to do, so feel free to come out for a browse as we will be open all normal hours 8.30 to 5pm. The garden is open as well.

 

Mail order. There will be no mail order again until the week of 20th of Jan 2014. The garden centre will only be closed Christmas Day otherwise open all days 8.30am to 5pm.

 

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year Hope its the best best one and take care and will look forward to catching up in the new year.
