This is a R. Yakusimanum hybrid which means this Rhododendron will be small and compact apart from the flowers that is which are large and showy. The flowers appear in spring and are toned reddish-purple with a margin of pink. Plant in a container or the garden in a semi-shaded position. Evergreen.

Rhododendron yakusimanum is pronounced R. 'ya-koo-shee-mah-num' just in case you want to give it a go.

Rhododendron Ivery's Scarlet is one of the best, large flowering scarlet red rhododendrons. It flowers early to mid season, each flower 4-6 cm across with 12-14 flowers in an enormous flowering truss. Flowers are crimson scarlet with dark brown spots on dorsal lobe.Evergreen.
